Meridians

The meridian system, the electro-magnetic energy field of the body, is essential for our health and well-being. It
consists of a series of channels or pathways of energy (Chi) running throughout the body.

The meridians contain a free-flowing, colorless, non-cellular liquid, and are named for an associated organ. They are
classified as either yin or yang, based on the direction in which they flow. Yang energy flows from the sun, and the
yang meridians run from the fingers to the face or from the face to the feet. Yin energy, from the earth, flows from the
feet to the torso and from the torso up the arms to the fingertips.

The meridian flow is one continuous, unbroken flow, with the energy flowing in one definite direction from one
meridian to another in a well determined order. When this energy flow is unrestricted, the body harmonizes the flow
and we experience health and well-being. However, the flow can become restricted or reversed, due to stress or
trauma. The meridian flow can be restored using various energy balancing techniques.
